Sustainability Pledge

Cheltenham Township’s Environmental Advisory Council invites residents in our community to make a pledge to adopt three or more new sustainable habits in their daily life that will conserve our community’s resources and reduce our community’s pollution. As examples, we encourage you to take some of the action steps that are listed below to make your homes, gardens and recycling more sustainable.

Home Actions Residents who pledge to improve the sustainability of their homes will reduce their energy consumption and the carbon pollution which is generated by their home’s heating system and their electricity consumption. These three actions are low cost first steps to conserve energy.
Home Actions Options
Park and Garden Actions Residents who pledge to improve the sustainability of their garden or of a Township park will help reduce storm water run-off and conserve water. Participation in growing your own food or acquiring produce locally can improve your diet and your health and will support our local economy.

Residents who increase the number and type of materials that they recycle will help the Township save money on trash incineration and reduce air pollution. Are you aware of all of the additional materials that residents can now recycle? Cheltenham now offers a drop off option to recycle electronic devices. You can also recycle garden and vegetable waste by participating our Township’s curbside bag pickup program, or compost it to make more soil for your garden.
