Fun is not limited to the young in Cheltenham Township. Two active senior citizen clubs offer older residents a host of special activities and opportunities to socialize.
From September through June, the La Mott Seniors meet at La Mott Community Center, at Willow and Sycamore Avenues, every Thursday at 11:00 a.m. The Rowland Seniors also meet at 11:00 a.m. on the first and third Fridays of the month at the Rowland Community Center, at Myrtle and Elm Avenues in Cheltenham.
Club members enjoy a variety of entertainment and special events. Guest speakers, magicians, musicians, line dancing, chair aerobics, bingo, card games and crafts are all regularly featured. Casino trips and health screenings offered by the Visiting Nurse Association-CS are always crowd pleasers. Refreshments range from light snacks to covered-dish smorgasbords.
Fees are $3 annual dues plus $1.50 per meeting for Rowland seniors or $15 annual dues for La Mott seniors. Both groups always welcome new members. For more information, call the centers at 215-379-2233 (Rowland) or 215-635-3255 (La Mott).
