Colonial Kitchen

The 1760 kitchen features mostly examples of Colonial living, but since it was used by occupants from that date until 1979, it contains elements from different time frames. It boasts pewter plates, authentic 18th century iron cooking utensils, a spinning wheel, candle, ice cream and pudding molds, a hand ice cream maker, two and three pronged forks and wooden bowls.  An array of dried herbs and flowers complete the ensemble. The fireplace with its beehive oven is a restoration, since a former resident removed the originals. Here, as throughout the house, are examples of the mortise and tenon construction.
